Fig Roll won the Listed Empress Stakes with a big performance to win by three quarters of a length for Champion Jockey Richard Hughes and trainer Richard Hannon, much to the delight of her owner breeder Des Anderson. Fig Roll is her dam Cake’s first foal, the filly may now go to the Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket next month. Her dam Cake who won the listed St Hugh’s Stakes and was third in the Cornwallis Stakes Group 3, was purchased by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock Ltd at Doncaster St Leger Yearling Sale in 2006 for £13,000.
