Brillant miler Canford Cliffs retires to stud after suffering a leg injury when chasing home Frankel in last week's Sussex Stakes Group 1 at Glorious Goodwood. Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock Ltd purchased Canford Cliffs as a yearling for £50,000 at the DBS Premier Yearling sale in 2008 from Redpender Stud on behalf of Robin Heffer. Canford Cliffs was described by Richard Hannon champion trainer as 'the best he has ever trained' and under his care he won seven races including five Group 1's and amassed a prizemoney haul of £951,724.
